Ballymoney Public Realm & Environmental Improvement Scheme
CLIENT
Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council
TIME FRAME
April – November 2024
PROJECT BRIEF
This major environmental improvement scheme was carried out on Ballymoney’s High Street, delivering key upgrades to enhance the town’s public spaces.
The project aligns with the Ballymoney Town Centre Masterplan and reflects a commitment to revitalising urban areas for long-term sustainability and prosperity.
The 35-week scheme was carefully managed to minimise disruption along this busy main arterial route. Extensive Traffic Management Plans were developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), PSNI, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, residents, business owners and other partners.
Throughout the project, a one-way traffic system was maintained, ensuring ‘business as usual’ for the town. Work included demolition, resurfacing, paving, upgraded street lighting, furniture and sewage improvements, all designed to enhance connectivity while keeping shopfronts and the town centre accessible to pedestrians and vehicles.
The project was carried out in carefully sequenced phases, utilising lane closures, temporary road diversions and designated walkways to maintain smooth traffic flow and pedestrian access.
