PROJECT BRIEF
The primary objective of the Lough Navar Improvement Works was to enhance Lough Navar Forest Park, making it a more inclusive, well-maintained and enjoyable outdoor destination for all visitors.
This was achieved through a series of improvements and upgrades across various locations within the park, including trails, roads, car parks and visitor hubs.
A key challenge of this project was ensuring that all works were carried out while keeping the forest open to the public and maintaining access for the Forest Service. Careful planning and phased execution were essential to minimise disruption while delivering high-quality enhancements.

Infrastructure Improvements

Information & Accessibility
- New Information Hubs: Constructed new hubs to provide visitors with essential park information.
- Information Signage: Installed educational and directional signage to enhance the visitor experience.
Environmental & Safety Improvements
- Landscaping: Enhanced green spaces to maintain the park’s natural beauty.
- Drainage Works: Implemented drainage solutions to prevent waterlogging and improve trail durability.
- Waymarker Installation: Installed waymarkers to assist visitors in navigating trails safely and efficiently.
PROJECT OUTCOME
