PROJECT BRIEF
CivCo was Main Contractors in the delivery of a new 3G training pitch and MUGA Development at Saintfield United Football Club, enhancing the club’s sporting facilities and providing improved infrastructure for players, members, and the wider local community.
The project was delivered within the club’s existing grounds, with the construction approach carefully developed around the site’s underlying ground conditions. Site investigations informed the preparation of the pitch formation and drainage strategy, providing a suitable foundation for the new playing surface and supporting its long-term performance.
CivCo coordinated the civil engineering and sports pitch works to create a stable, well-drained and durable playing facility designed to support the club’s continued growth and long-term use.

- Construction of new 3G synthetic sports pitch / MUGA within Saintfield United’s FC existing grounds
- Installation of specialist sports surfacing to the specified FIFA performance requirements
- Engineered pitch formation and drainage system
- Associated floodlighting, fencing, sports equipment and external works

- Detailed site preparation, earthworks and formation construction.
- Management of variable ground conditions, including areas of non-engineered made ground
- Construction designed around relatively low-strength subgrade conditions, with the ground investigation recommending a conservative design CBR of 2%.
- Coordination of civil engineering, drainage and sports-pitch construction activities.
- Careful management of works within an existing operational football club environment.
- Delivery focused on achieving the required levels, gradients, drainage performance and long-term durability of the completed facility.
PROJECT OUTCOME
